F.I.L.T.E.R. First is a social media preparedness program designed to proactively equip young people with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate the world of social media in a positive way. F.I.L.T.E.R. is an acronym that covers the six areas we found to be the most crucial to achieving a positive experience online: Following, Intentions, LifeStory, Time, Emotions, and Reality.
By acknowledging the positive and safe-guarding against the negative, we truly believe we can change the trajectory of the ways we are seeing social media affect our lives. We hope to stop these problems before they start by teaching young people to set healthy boundaries and create good habits early. We want to see them gain perspective and self-awareness, and ultimately use Social Media the way it was originally designed to be used: to cultivate connection, community and enhance our relationships with others.
